The MacFarlanes relocation project, completed with a value of £80,000, aimed to move 700 staff across four separate London locations with minimal disruption to core business operations. The scope involved full packing and unpacking of filing in sequential order, utilizing around 3,000 crates, and executing all moves over two consecutive weekends. The project required detailed coordination to manage interdependencies between departments and buildings.

Approach Used by Ede's

Ede's deployed a highly experienced move manager to collaborate closely with MacFarlanes’ team, conducting site visits and departmental meetings to develop a comprehensive move schedule. This planning minimized crate usage from a potential 6,000 to 3,000 by optimizing on-site resources, with crates recycled during the process. The move manager remained on-site throughout, briefing an internal departmental move team on roles, safe working routes, access points, health and safety regulations, and escalation processes. Parking dispensations and warning signs were arranged to facilitate smooth logistics, ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders.

Project Outcome

All moves were completed on time and within budget over two weekends, achieving zero disruption to MacFarlanes’ core business. The sequential packing and unpacking of filing ensured operational continuity, while the efficient crate management and recycling reduced logistical demands.
